Smell the Rhubarb
Not the Asphalt
What's that awful smell?
CORLISS COMPANY HAS REQUESTED A ZONING CHANGE WITH THE CITY OF SUMNER TO ALLOW THEM TO BUILD AN
ASPHALT BATCH PLANT ON PROPERTY ONLY 1,500 FEET AWAY FROM THE YMCA!
ASPHALT BATCH PLANTS ARE KNOWN BY THE ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY TO EMIT TOXINS WHICH POTENTIALLY EXPOSE THEIR EMPLOYEES AND THE SURROUNDING COMMUNITY TO DANGEROUS CHEMICALS THROUGH THE AIR, WATER AND SOIL.
Toxin emitting industrial plants
DECREASE PROPERTY VALUES!
DO YOU REALLY WANT TO ADD MORE UGLY INDUSTRIAL BUILDINGS TO YOUR HILLSIDE?
With the amount of toxic liquid chemicals used at an asphalt batch plant, do you want to risk a spill that can effect YOUR drinking water and
Batch plants make and deliver asphalt on demand to job sites, meaning an average of over 100,000 TONS of asphalt will be transported in trucks using the already dangerous and over burdened intersection
AND WHAT ABOUT THAT AWFUL SMELL!!
Not only is placing an Asphalt Batch Plant in the urban area of Sumner where hundreds of children participate in outdoor activities simply irresponsible, it is potentially hazardous to you, your family and friends health. It will likely decrease your property value. It will absolutely increase traffic at an already dangerous intersection, and likely bring with it the awful ODOR that asphalt batch plants are famous for.
AN ASPHALT PLANT IN SUMNER BRINGS ZERO BENEFITS TO OUR COMMUNITY.
IF YOU WANT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR COMMUNITY COME TO THE SUMNER CITY COUNCIL'S SPECIAL PUBLIC HEARING to discuss this matter!
